1. Notice on the Arrangements for the Offline Final Exam of the One-credit Off-campus MOOC Courses in the First Semester of the 2020-2021 School Year

The one-credit off-campus MOOC course teaching in the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year is coming to an end, of which four one-credit off-campus MOOC courses will hold offline exams on November 28, 2020 (Saturday) 09:00-11:00 according to the school’s arrangement. The four courses are Communication Wisdom, Cultivation and Life, Win at the Workplace, and Communication Psychology. Please bring effective certificates (such as student ID card, campus card, etc. and electronic certificates are excluded) and 2B pencil (to answer questions on your answer sheet), eraser, pen, etc. to participate in the test. There are several examination rooms for the above subjects. Students can log in Online Service Hall at http://ehall.szu.edu.cn after 10:00 on November 18 and then search and enter “My Exam Schedule” app to check the test time and test center name. Remember not to go to the wrong examination room.

2. Notice on the Recruitment of the Student Team of the Academy (Preparatory) Studio on the Yuehai Campus

The preliminary construction of the academy (preparatory) on the Yuehai campus is being carried out in Building No.1 of the lodge area (including Talents Gathering Lodge, Lagerstroemia Lodge and Red Bean Lodge). In order to enrich students’ college life and improve the construction of the academy, we are now recruiting members for the student team of the academy (preparatory) studio on the Yuehai campus from undergraduates of the whole school. The student team of the studio includes the project implementation group, the publicity group, the human resources group, and the academy civilization group. For specific work duties, please refer to the detailed version of the notice. Students are welcome to sign up.

 3. Notice on the Archives Hub’s Recruitment of Temporary Positions of Work-Study Program

The Archives Hub is now openly recruiting 22 temporary employees of Work-Study program from undergraduates of the whole school. One of the two available positions requires assisting in the special review of faculty and staff files and the other requires inventory and verification of archives in the library, data collection and sorting, transfer of archives and verification and follow-up of missing materials. Students are required to have at least three half-day duty hours per week. Students who are interested please refer to the application requirements on the detailed version of the notice.

 4. Notice on This Week’s Navigation Lecture Series

The topic of this week’s lecture is Montesquieu's New Political and Legal Theory, addressed by associate professor Qingping Kong at Law School of Shenzhen University on 16:00-17:25, November 20. This lecture describes and elaborates Montesquieu’s new political view and its operating mode through the interpretation and intention discussion of the text of The Spirit of the Laws, and further explores the legal concepts based on it and the life style that humans shall have. Ⅰ. Notice on the Arrangements for the Offline Final Exam of the One-credit Off-campus MOOC Courses in the First Semester of the 2020-2021 School Year

Dear students,

The one-credit off-campus MOOC course teaching in the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year is coming to an end, of which four one-credit off-campus MOOC courses will hold offline exams on November 28, 2020 (Saturday) 09:00-11:00 according to the school’s arrangement. The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows.


1. For students of Shenzhen University who select MOOC optional courses, the assessment methods include online and offline examination, both of which are indispensable. If the student does not take the offline exam, then his total score of the course taken will be recorded as F. The online and offline exams are in no particular order. Please pay attention to the online exam announcement on the UOOC platform and offline exam notice so as to arrange the time reasonably for the examination.

 

 


2. Please refer to Annex 1 for the time and form of the offline final examination for the four one-credit off-campus MOOC courses (relevant colleges will organize offline exams for on-campus MOOC courses). Please log in Online Service Hall at http://ehall.szu.edu.cn after 10:00 on November 18 and then search and enter “My Exam Schedule” app to check specific test rooms. Candidates need to refer to Annex 2 and carefully read Instructions for Candidates of the Examination of Off-campus MOOC Courses of Shenzhen University. Note: Candidates need to bring effective certificates (such as student card, campus card, etc. and electronic certificates are excluded) and 2B pencil (to answer questions on your answer sheet), eraser, pen, etc. to take the exam. The test sites for the one-credit off-campus MOOC courses are all on the Huiwen building of the Houhai campus. Candidates should check their certificates in advance in case of being unable to take the exam.

 

 

3. Every student need to make sure that his or her personal information on the UOOC alliance platform is accurate. If there is any discrepancy, please correct it in time or contact the MOOC office for correction. No correction will be made if the final grade of F is entered in the school educational administration system due to errors in filling in personal information or withdrawal after the completion of online examination on the platform. Students should study in the credit course period on the UOOC platform. If they study in the open course period, the credits will not be recognized.

 

4. Shenzhen University off-campus MOOC examination does not set make-up examination, but there is a deferred exam. For students who need to sit a deferred exam due to special reasons, please apply in accordance with the Regulations of Shenzhen University on Deferral of Final Examination (see Student Handbook of Shenzhen University for details) and send the paper version of application for deferred examination form and relevant supporting documentation (see Annex 3) to the MOOC office during from November 18 to November 27 (except weekends). Only after the verification and approval of the school will the deferred test be arranged for the next semester. Those who have not been approved or failed will not be arranged for a deferred test. In a situation where students on Xili campus need to apply for a deferred test due to examination conflicts, students should bring the paper version of application for deferred examination and examination certificate materials and submit them to the No.2 window of the Teaching Office of the Comprehensive Service Hall during from November 18 to November 27.

Ⅱ. Notice on the Recruitment of Student Team of the Academy (Preparatory) Studio on the Yuehai Campus

 

The preliminary construction of the academy (preparatory) of Yuehai Campus is being carried out in Building No.1 of the lodge area (including Talents Gathering Lodge, Lagerstroemia Lodge and Red Bean Lodge). The space planning of this area is basically completed and the activity rooms on the first floor have been opened for students’ study and entertainment. Student groups can also organize activities there. At the same time, the studio together with the fire department of the school, CATIC Property, and counselors has conducted dormitory inspection work to standardize students’ civilized behavior in dormitories. The studio will continue to plan and organize fine activities to increase the diversity of activities and enrich students’ college life. In order to promote the construction of the academy, build a platform for students' self-management and self-service, and stimulate students' sense of participation and responsibility, we are now recruiting members for the student team of the academy (preparatory) studio on the Yuehai campus from undergraduates of the whole school.

 

1. Recruitment Departments

The studio student team includes the project implementation group, the publicity group, the human resources group, and the academy civilization group. Specific work duties are as follows.

(1) Project Implementation Group: Organize academy’s typical activities; coordinate with the school's functional departments or colleges' stationing activities, and student associations' fine activities.

(2) Publicity Group: Take charge of the online and offline promotion of the academy’s activities as well as the use and the maintenance of the publicity column.

(3) Human Resources Group: Take charge of the internal affairs of the studio, such as the arrangement of quality improvement activities, member recruitment and volunteer hours recording and the organization of relevant skills training.

(4) Academy Civilization Group: Responsible for the inspection work of dormitories and activity rooms of the academy.

 


2. Requirements

 

(1) One should be easy-going, do well in communicating with others, have a strong ability of expression and a sense of team cooperation.

(2) One should have initiative in work, be responsible, and be good at organizing and coordinating.

1. Job Description and Requirements

 

(1) Assist in the special review of faculty and staff files;

(2) Inventory and verification of archives in the library, data collection and sorting, transfer of archives and verification and follow-up of missing materials.

 

2. Application Qualifications

(1) Undergraduate students with excellent grades, and Work-Study experience is preferred;

(2) One should be careful, responsible and hardworking, and obey the arrangement;

(3) One should have good virtues and a sense of confidentiality;

(4) One should have a stable time schedule, a strong sense of service, abide by work discipline, and do not arrive late or leave early.

Ⅳ. The Fifth Session of the Navigation Lecture Series: Montesquieu's New Political and Legal Theory

Topic: Montesquieu's New Political and Legal Theory

Time: 16:00-17:25, November 20

Brief introduction to the lecturer:

Qingping Kong is an associate professor at Law School of Shenzhen University, Ph.D. in Law degree from Peking University and a visiting scholar of the Center for Chinese Legal Studies (now the Hong Yen Chang Center for Chinese Legal Studies) of Columbia Law School. Professor Kong is the author of Reconstruction and Adaptation: Theoretical Thinking of Law in the Dualistic Landscape of China and the West (1911-1949) and teaches Chinese Legal History, Legal Thoughts of the West, and Legal Thoughts of China.

 

Brief introduction to the lecture:

The lecture will explain Montesquieu’s new political basis and legal concepts in comparison with Aristotle and Christian St. Thomas Aquinas’ political and legal theory, describe and elaborate Montesquieu’s new political view and its operating mode through the interpretation and intention discussion of the text of The Spirit of the Laws, and further explore the legal concepts based on it and the life style that humans shall have.

 

Offline Lecture Registration Methods and Requirements:

1. Students need to sign up on the Navigation Lecture Series app (also known as “领航讲座” app) in the Intranet Service Hall from 12:30, November 16 to 13:00, November 20. Please notify that the quota is limited and done on a first-come-first-served basis, until quota lasts. Please refer to the attached Navigation Lecture Series System Operation Guide for operation guidance. Only students of 2020 class are allowed to sign up;

2. The system will assign the seat number after successful registration. Please take your seat accordingly. Students who are not seated according to the seat number shall be deemed to have not attended the lecture. Registration can be canceled after registering successfully. The cancellation rules are as follows.

(1) Students who have registered successfully can cancel the registration within six hours after the registration deadline and can resubmit;

(2) If the registration has been successful, but is canceled more than six hours after the registration deadline, the quota will not be processed though it has been released;

(3) Students who have registered successfully but canceled it within six hours after the registration deadline will be disqualified from the next week and can continue to register after one week;

(4) Students who have registered successfully but fail to attend the lecture on time will be disqualified from the next two weeks and can continue to register after two weeks;

(5) Students who have registered successfully twice and have two attendance records will be prompted with “You have registered successfully twice. Please pay attention to whether there is any quota available within six hours after the registration deadline.” If there is any quota available within six hours after the registration deadline, the registration will be processed successfully.

3. This lecture will be documented as a teaching material. Please listen carefully to the lecture and abide by classroom discipline. Thank you for your cooperation.

4. This online course can be played online at UOOC, and the specific method will be notified separately.
